Modular Solution Focuses On CAD, EDM And ERP Integration
Isah, market leader in the field of business software for customer-driven companies, has created a modular CAD, Engineering Document Management (EDM) and ERP solution for Stinis, specialist in the development and production of container lifting equipment. With this solution, Stinis engineers in the Netherlands and Singapore have the same documents and information at their disposal and can easily develop new products together.
Stinis develops and manufactures container lifting equipment, so-called spreaders. The organization is active all over the world, has its head office in the Netherlands and an office in Singapore to cater to the Asian market. Both offices have a full engineering department. Stinis Holland had been working with ERP solution Isah-7 since 1998. ERP supplier Isah has integrated this solution with the 2D and 3D CAD and EDM software with which Stinis works. A logical next step was to introduce these solutions to the Singapore office, so the engineering process would be completely integrated.
“Our colleagues in Singapore used to work with separate models and Excel-documents to register and maintain parts lists,” says Mathieu de Vries, Project Engineer at Stinis Holland BV. “Thanks to the realtime integration of Isah-7 with our CAD and EDM systems all engineers, both in the Netherlands and in Singapore, now have the right documents, models and accompanying parts lists at their disposal at all times. With this integration, we have greatly improved upon the efficiency in our engineering process.”
Thanks to the integration, the offices in the Netherlands and Singapore are now working with the same IT systems. It is no longer necessary to pass information through e-mail or to maintain data in separate files. The CAD, ERP and EDM integration ensures that engineers in the Netherlands and Singapore can work with the same documents. When engineers in Singapore make changes in models, engineers in the Netherlands know about them right away. All documents are immediately available to both offices. Time differences between the locations are no longer an issue. The result saves time and costs, because the engineering process has become more efficient and work preparation can start sooner.
“Isah has created a modular solution for us,” adds Mathieu de Vries. “This means that we will be able to expand our IT system to new locations easily, should we decide to establish new offices in other locations. Not only do we profit from our engineering solution right now, we have also created a solid base for future developments.”
